Kufi to Kuf-i
Learning art again

Malaysia is a country that is blessed with many intangible heritages, such as the words of wisdom that are passed down through countless generations. TM is on a mission to archive and preserve these words of wisdom because they are as unique and varied as the Malaysians who utter them.
​
We then asked ourselves: what if we could immortalize these words in a new, digital way? We adapted a form of Islamic calligraphy art, known as Kufi art to achieve this. Usually found in Muslim houses all over Malaysia that feature Quranic verses, we asked ourselves what if we can turn Malaysians’ words of wisdom into works of art worth sharing?

With this cultural insight, we developed a Kufi Art Generator that converts these words of wisdom into beautiful Kufi art that can be customized by the users, preserving Malaysian words of wisdom for the next generation.

Voted as one of Malaysia's top 3 Raya films in 2022, this story tells us to appreciate and celebrate the words of wisdom bestowed on us. It teaches us the importance of the great advice that we get from our loved ones, the ones we often brush off. It shows us that they always have our best interest at heart and the faster we understand the significance of it, the faster we can honor them and hopefully succeed ourselves.
